Discover two Himalayan treasures - Bhutan and Nepal - in one journey.
Join an intimate group of travelers and explore some of the most sought after sacred sites.
We will start and end in Kathmandu, Nepal. See detailed itinerary.
Accommodation will range from high-end eco-resorts to Monastery guesthouses with all basic facilities.
Throughout the journey, we will practice meditation together as a group, as well as have discussions on Buddhist philosophy. The practices and lectures are approached from a non-religious, secular, and psychological perspective.
This pilgrimage journey is organized by Himalayan Hermitage in partnership with Buddhist Magazine Lion’s Roar and guided by Kerry Chöyang Tsomo, Himalayan Hermitage facilitator and meditation instructor.
The journey and all lectures will be guided in English.

The Facilitator
Ani Kerry grew up in Canada and flew off to India and Nepal at a young age to study Tibetan Buddhism. She completed two three-year retreats in the Shangpa and Karma Kagyu traditions, and later met Mingyur Rinpoche, from whom she has been learning since 2016.
Ani Kerry lives in Nepal and translates Tibetan into English for the Tergar Institute. She is currently in a certification program to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, a secular meditation course which bridges her traditional Buddhist experience and the challenges of the modern world. Being from the western world herself, and having lived extensively in Asia and the Himalayan region, Ani Kerry offers great insights into the cultures of the region, and into Tibetan Buddhist philosophy as a path.

Prerequisites for Joining the Journey
We like to make our journeys accessible to participants of all levels of physical fitness. On this journey we won’t hike everyday, but most days you can expect 1-3 hours of hiking when visiting sacred sites in the areas where are staying. The terrain will vary from moderate, to slightly more challenging when we climb the hills and stairs on our way up to Tiger’s Nest, on our last full day in Bhutan. If this uphill hike will be too much, there is the alternative of renting a horse that would take you up to the cafeteria, and the rest of the way will only be slightly upward and less strenuous. Please inquire with us about the best option for you!
Altitude sickness is not a concern during this itinerary since we won’t be venturing higher than 3,050 meters (10,000 feet).
It is not required to have any knowledge or experience with the practice of yoga, of meditation, or of Buddhism. Simply to have the wish to go deeper with one’s mind, and to have curiosity regarding its qualities, is enough.
